How to plant with a drag mat

Mow your lawn before applying grass seed to your lawn. Keep grass 1 and 1/2 to 2 inches tall. Run the lawn rod aerator over the existing lawn. The aerator should remove 20 to 40 kernels of soil per square foot.
Place the grass seed in the droplet spreader. Apply the correct seeding rate by following the directions on the label on the package. Run the droplet spreader in one direction first, then in the opposite direction. This will allow you to distribute the seed evenly.
Pull the mat across the lawn in the same direction as the droplet spreader in step 3. The drag mat will break up the kernels of soil and place the seeds under the existing grasses.
Mow the new grass as soon as its total height exceeds 2 inches. Keep the new grass and existing lawn mowed to a height of 2 inches.
